East Worthing and Shoreham is a winnable seat for Labour. The Tory cuts agenda is having a devastating effect on people’s everyday life. Whether it’s underfunding of the NHS and schools, insecure employment, unaffordable housing or destroying our environment.
East Worthing and Shoreham desperately needs change and I am the candidate with the skills and commitment to rebuild our constituency for the many not the few!
Lavinia started work in the civil service in 1980. A year later she became involved in her trade union and has been active ever since.
She moved to Liverpool in 1997 and got involved in her local tenants’ and residents’ association. Coming to Shoreham-by-Sea in 2013, she retired from work in 2016 and continued to devote her energies to the Labour movement and the community. She was elected Councillor for Southlands ward in May 2018.
Councillor O’Connor was elected in May 2018. Recently retired, as a full-time Trade Union officer for PCS Union, she was previously a civil servant for almost 30 years at the Inland Revenue and Home Office and has always been an active Trade Union representative and campaigner.
Now, she serves on Adur’s Licensing Committee, the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Joint Staff Committee and is the local Labour Party Whip. She is a life-long socialist and believes that, with the present leadership, our manifesto and its inclusive vision for the future, this is the only way forward for the country.
Lavinia is committed to ensuring the people of Southlands have a voice on the council and hopes to raise the standards of people’s lives, especially those of children.
